According to blogger All About Argentina, despite not being selected for the national team, Mastantono still drove three and a half hours from Madrid to Alicante just to participate in the Argentine national team's training camp.

Due to physical discomfort, Mastantono was unable to participate in team training, but he requested from the national team coaching staff to join the training camp. After being cleared, he became a member of training camp and will remain with the team until Thursday. He will fully participate in the daily activities of the national team, but will not travel with the team to Angola.
