The Athletic reporter Fred Katz reported that several sources in the league revealed that as expected, the Suns kept Richards, and the Jamaican center's $5 million non-guaranteed contract for the 2025-26 season is expected to be converted into a guarantee contract.

Last season, Richards played for the Suns in 36 games, starting in 34 of which, averaging 9.5 points and 8.6 rebounds in 22.7 minutes per game, and shooting percentage of 60.5%.

Currently, the centers in the Suns are MaluAchi (the No. 10th pick this year), Mawei, Richards and Iguodaro.
