Today is the 87th birthday of "Big O" Oscar Robertson. NBA officials wish him a happy birthday.
Robertson played a total of 1,040 regular season games in his career, averaging 42.2 minutes per game, averaging 25.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists.
In terms of personal honors, Big O was elected the Rookie of the Year with averages of 30.5 points, 10.1 rebounds and 9.7 assists in the 1960-61 season, won the MVP in the 1963-64 season, and won the only championship in his career with the Bucks in the 1970-71 season. In addition, Robertson, a 12-time All-Star, has been selected to the NBA All-NBA Team 11 times (9 times first team).
As the former triple-double king in NBA history, Robertson currently ranks second in history with 181 triple-doubles. The first in history is Westbrook with 205 times. Behind him are Jokic with 173 times, Magic with 138 times, James with 122 times, and Kidd with 107 times.
In the 1961-62 season, the second-year Big O completed the first season in NBA history averaging a triple-double (30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, 11.4 assists), and this achievement was only completed again by Westbrook many years later.
