According to famous reporter Marc Stein, sources revealed that Don Nelson was awarded the Chuck Daley Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Basketball Coaches Association.

Old Nelson revealed in an interview that he planned to wear Doncic's signature shoes when receiving the award. He said: "Luca is my good friend. As a protest against his trade from the Mavericks to the Lakers, I will wear a pair of his new signature shoes. I want to mention this specifically."
