18-year-old Real Madrid youngster Pitachi: It’s incredible to train with Mbappe and others. His idol is Valverde
Thiago Pitacci, who plays for Real Madrid’s Spanish U20 national team, was interviewed and talked about his experience in Real Madrid’s first team and his role model.
You have been training with the Real Madrid first team coached by Xabi Alonso.
Every time I am with them, I am full of expectations. Xavi and I are very close, but I know that I am a Castilla player and I have to focus on Castilla: give it my all when it is my turn to play, as I always try to do, and above all focus on Castilla.
Can you imagine your debut at the Bernabeu this season?
That's a dream. The Bernabeu, the best stadium in the world, Real Madrid is the best club in the world. There's no better place or better ballpark to realize that dream. I will focus on Castilla, where I should be now, and I am looking forward to it.
What is it like to train with star players like Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius or Bellingham?
They are the best players in the world. The level there is unbelievable. The ball is so fast you can barely see it. Training with them is crazy. It was very exciting, especially being with them for the first time, I had never had this experience before and I was so excited to experience it all.
Which player do you usually follow?
I like Valverde very much; I see some similarities between myself and him. He gave me some advice and was a really nice guy. Now, one of my idols and role models is him.
What about Alonso? He played in the same position as you.
Alonso, his mere existence is already a teaching. He was a phenomenal player, won a World Cup with his country, had countless titles and had an amazing career. What else can I say about him? Seriously, he's a really nice guy and very approachable from day one. I am focused on my team, Castilla, and as for other things, such as being called up to the first team, I will face it with all my strength as usual.
Can you imagine holding a U20 World Cup trophy in your hands a month later?
I hope we can take the U20 World Cup home, because I see that we have a very good team and have the conditions to win the championship. A month from now, it would be even better if we can bring the World Cup with us. Castilla are also getting into a pretty good run now, but most importantly now I want to focus on the U20 World Cup, winning it first and then returning to Spain with the trophy.
