Polish football legend Boniek was interviewed and talked about his views on the current Roma team, especially commenting on the team's offensive problems, and expressed confidence in head coach Gasperini.

Talking about his identity

"Don't let me speak as a former player or manager. When it comes to Roma, I am just an ordinary fan like everyone else."

Do you think this Roma team really has the strength to compete in the Champions League?

Boniek: Milan, Inter Milan, Naples and Juventus are the favorites in those four positions. I hope Roma joins the fray, that would mean solving a lot of economic problems and setting up important technical prospects for the future. If Gasperini wasn't on the bench, I'd say reaching the top would be almost impossible, but Gasperini is a guarantee.

So you are optimistic about Rome’s prospects?

Boniek: They are now tied for second with Inter Milan and Naples. Am I right?

How do you explain the problems the team encounters on the offensive end?

Boniek: We have to wait for Dybala to return to form. He can make a difference.

What about Dovpic? Do you need to wait too?

Bonek: I noticed that when they gave him a good pass, he almost always hit it. But he too seeks to challenge the centre-backs rather than trying to break away from his marker. He always seemed to be in some kind of duel with the opposing centre-backs, and it always turned into a physical game. I do not understand. If he can attack the space and try some off-ball movement, he will definitely be more of a threat.

And Evan Ferguson

Bonek: He looked excited in the first game and showed his ability. Then he went a little quiet. He is still young and we need to evaluate carefully. He needs time because Serie A is a very difficult league for forwards.
