Rakitic: Fel clearly won the starting opportunity, but I think Olmo is the first choice
In the first round of the Champions League, Barcelona defeated Newcastle 2-1 away. Former Barcelona midfielder Rakitic commented on the game on Kobe Radio, and the Croatian officially announced his retirement a few months ago.
Asked about Frick's roster choice at St James Park Stadium, Rakitic said: "Fer clearly won the opportunity to start, although I still stick to my point of view. For me, Ormo should start. Indeed, Fermin's performance in recent games makes him worthy of this position."
The former Barcelona player made it clear that "in the past, Barcelona have proved that they have a strong roster and a good team atmosphere. That won't change anything."
Rakitic understands that he has a starting chance due to Fermin's recent outstanding performance on the court, but stressed: "I believe that when Olmo fully returns to form, he will be one of the 11 starters."
