Real Madrid was awarded the 105th anniversary of the royal title, and the club s official website issued a message to commemorate it
Today marks the 105th anniversary of Real Madrid's award of the royal title, and the club's official website has issued a document to commemorate it.
Real Madrid official website wrote: On June 29, 1920, King Alfonso XIII awarded the Madrid Club the title of "Royal". The king sent a letter to the club chairman Pedro Palachus through the royal chief, granting him the right to use the title. The letter reads: "His Majesty the King (God Blessed) has readily agreed to award the title of "Royal" to your club with maximum satisfaction, which can be preceded by the name of the club. Your club deserves this honor under the leadership of your outstanding chairman. Hereby convey the edict for knowledge and use as a corresponding purpose."
This approval allows the club to use the crown pattern on the team logo. Since then, the Madrid Football Club has been officially renamed Real Madrid Football Club.
