Stramachoni: Inter Milan was caught off guard by leaving office, and chose Ziwo to continue the 352 system
Previously, Inter Milan Chairman Marotta had confirmed that Zivo will become the team's new coach, but the registration issue between him and Parma needs to be dealt with before the official announcement. Former Inter Milan coach Stramachoni focused on Zivo's prospects in an exclusive interview with Milan Sports.
You worked with Ziwo, and then can you tell that he has the potential to be a coach?
"Generally speaking, even high-level players tend to focus more on their own performance. But Zivo is different. He always pays great attention to overall analysis and has a team vision similar to a coach."
What are his outstanding advantages as a player on the spiritual level?
"He has the ability to interpret the game in the offensive organization and defensive stages. With football wisdom beyond average, he can predict the situation on the court in advance. He has successfully limited players like Robben who are faster and dribbling far exceeding him. He relies on predicting opponents' movements and taking tough measures when necessary, and always with the wisdom of 'crawling'."
Is his becoming Inter Milan coach a coincidence, the right time, place and people, or is everything still variable?
"I think Inter Milan caught off guard with Inzaghi's decision to leave office. Against this background, they made a very clear assessment. They chose a young coach who was positive and good at managing teams like Inter Milan with important players. At the same time, he also has his own ideas and is familiar with the 3-5-2 formation. Most importantly, he has a deep understanding of the environment inside and outside the field."
With his coaching experience in Parma alone, is Zivo enough to be the coach of a wealthy club, not to mention that Inter Milan has just experienced a major setback from losing the Champions League final?
"What is certain is that Inter Milan's coach selection this time is not about completely changing the direction of the project. They chose a coach who is close to the club's management and environment to continue the project, because Osilio knows him very well. The Club World Cup will become an important running-in period, allowing him to understand the team more deeply. This is by no means a trivial advantage. Zivo will face high-level games immediately after taking office."
Do you like his style of coaching Parma?
"He is good at letting the team switch formations. After giving up the four defenders, Parma changed to a 3-5-2 formation, which can give full play to the characteristics of the players. He did a great job against strong teams: blocking Napoli, Inter Milan, Lazio, Fiorentina, and defeating Juventus. However, when facing teams that shrink defense, he encountered some difficulties, partly because of the injury of important players, which led to the midfielder focusing more on physical confrontation rather than technical quality."
How will he build Inter Milan's game style? Will you make some adjustments if you follow the same system?
"In my opinion, one of the reasons for choosing him is to maintain the continuity of the 3-5-2 system. This system has become a symbol of Inter Milan's technical projects, including player selection, which also revolves around this formation."
Do he and Fabregas have anything in common?
"Zivo has more experience in coaching at high-level youth teams than Fabregas, and the latter has a slightly more coaching game in Serie A. But in terms of overall coaching experience, the two have very similar resumes. They are both great former players. If Fabregas is chosen, I think it will bring a small technical and tactical innovation, and the impact on the project will be more significant; and if Choosing Zivo, I am sure that the technical and tactical projects will be more stable."
Judging from the current lineup, where does Inter Milan still need to be strengthened?
"I always think that a strong defender needs to strengthen the defense and give players such as Bastoni more opportunities to take off. I think it is necessary to introduce a wingback who can rotate with Dumfries, and finally a high-level important forward as a supplement to Lautaro and Toulam."
