Meiji: Investigators are expected to ask at least 10 Lakers employees for cell phones and call information.

According to joint reports by TA reporters Joe Vardon, Mike Vorkunov and Sam Amick, due to the indictment of former NBA player and LeBron James’ former shooting coach Damon Jones (who once had a close relationship with the Lakers), investigators from a law firm commissioned by the NBA are expected to ask at least 10 Lakers employees for mobile phones and call records and other information.
League insiders revealed that Lakers assistant trainer Mike Mancias and administrative director Randy Mims have voluntarily handed over their mobile phones to cooperate with the investigation. Both of them are employed by the Lakers due to their close relationship with James. The new round of review will focus on their connection with Jones.
James, Mancias and Mims have not been charged with a crime or named in any federal charging documents, but Jones was arrested last month and accused of selling private health information of two Lakers stars to gamblers, and prosecutors said Jones once obtained relevant information from the team's trainer. Jones pleaded not guilty during an appearance in Brooklyn federal court earlier this month.
Mancias, 48, has been James' personal trainer for about 20 years, and Mims, 50, has had a close relationship with James since he was a high school student in Akron, Ohio.
