Today, Celtic player Tatum participated in the ESPN "First Take" channel program.

A-Smith: "When you look back on your pick, I know you're happy to go to Boston, but have you ever thought that you could have been a Lakers player, you could have been a Philadelphia 76ers player. And you looked at those teams and said, 'You paid the price for missing me.' Have you ever thought about that?"

Tatum: "I would say early in my career, uh... Kobe was my favorite player. The Lakers were my favorite team growing up . You're so close to realizing your dream of playing in the draft, and you see the Lakers have the second pick, you're thinking, I might go to the Lakers, my favorite team. So, that's kind of hurt, it feels like they didn't think about picking me at all. Not necessarily saying I want to play for Philadelphia. I want to be the No. 1 pick. I feel like I'm the best player. So yes, I'm a little sad at first, but I'm not a vengeful person. Eventually everything went to the best direction for me, and I'm so glad I'm at the Celtics."
