Former Manchester United youth training player: Don t regret leaving, Ferguson s club changes too much after retirement
Liam Grimshaw was born in February 1995 as a defender. His contract with Dundee United expired last summer and has not signed any team to this day. Liam Grimshaw is from Manchester United's youth training, but he left the Red Devils when he was only 20 years old. In an interview with Manchester Evening News, Grimshaw talked about that experience.
He said: "That was definitely the right time, 100%. When I left, Sir Ferguson had been out of office for about two seasons. The club had already changed at that time, and these changes may still affect the Red Devils. As soon as Sir Ferguson left, you can feel that the atmosphere in the club became different.
"The club used to have that kind of real family atmosphere, you can look at the past with nostalgia, but I think I was lucky to be able to play for the Red Devils in that very special period, but it was already the evening of that era.
"And I was at the age of age, I played a lot of reserve games and trained with the first team for a long time. But I was tired of reserves, I wanted new challenges, and wanted to prove that I could play adult football. In September 2015, when I had the opportunity to go to Motherwell on loan, I took this opportunity."
Speaking of Sir Ferguson, Grimshaw said: "I remember the time I walked into his office and he asked me to sit down, and then he told me that Manchester United gave me a two-year contract, which was a very special memory. Sir Ferguson's charm and aura were incredible, but he was actually very approachable.
"Justice Ferguson would talk to anyone in the club like he talked to Ronaldo, whether it was a first team player, a gear or a chef, he treated it the same way. I think that's one of the reasons why Sir Ferguson has been a huge success at Manchester United. ”
