The Spanish media "World Sports" reported that Barcelona's elite taxi association (Élite Taxi) called for a strike next Tuesday to protest the agreement between the Barcelona club and the transportation company Uber. There will be a match between Barcelona and Olympiacos.

Starting at 17:00, the organization called for taxis to advance in "columns" in the direction of Barcelona's offices on Congress Avenue, with the purpose of "blocking the entire area around the Camp Nou stadium." A second "column" will head to the Olympic Stadium, where they hope to "completely surround the stadium in protest," according to an announcement from the group on Saturday. The group announced that it would set up protest zones at both Barcelona Airport terminals and Sants train station, and pledged "a city-wide suspension of taxi services."

Barcelona and Uber are expected to announce an agreement on Wednesday that will make the transportation company the club's new "official partner," but no details of the agreement have been revealed.

The organization demanded that the club "immediately correct and terminate any commercial agreement with Uber". In their view, the company "has been attacking the city's public transportation system for many years."
