Regarding his renewal, Cole said: "I don't expect there will be any negotiations during the season, who knows - maybe everything will surface at some point and then they will come to me. But I'm not worried at all. I won't think about it. I just think that waiting is very reasonable for all of us." Cole also signed a similar expiration contract during the regular season of the 2023-24 season, and in February that season he signed a two-year $35 million contract extension with the Warriors.
